Developing music teacher education in Nepal
Sibelius Academy and Nepal Music Center in Kathmandu arecollaborating to co-develop music teacher education in Nepal. Work has been intensive and included reciprocal visits and intensive working periods both in Helsinki and Kathmandu.

GLOMUS spirit at Nordtrad
The GLOMAS students attended the annual Nordtrad gathering of folk musicians in April. It was an event similar to the GLOMUS Camps with the days filled with workshops and ensembles, mostly based on the folk traditions of the various countries attending.

Record number of applications for Global Music studies
In August 2016, the Global Music studies will expand at the Sibelius Academy to offer two degree programmes in Global Music, 5.5-year and 2.5-year programme. More than 80 applications were received during this application round!

EU project underway in Makumira, Tanzania
Big things are happening at Tumaini University Makumira in Tanzania! The music department is implementing a project "Preservation and Propotion of Traditional Dance and Music in Northern Tanzania" for which it secured 1.7 million EUR grant from the EU.

A 16-week longdistance programme between RAMA and ANIM was completed in 2015 with very beneficial results for both institutions.

End of Funding Programmes
The GLOMUS network is sorry to inform that both Finnish and Danish governments have decreased funding for development cooperation, a decision which will affect the network funding possibilities including the organisation of GLOMUS Camp 2017.
