In August of 2009, GLOMUS offered a joint course on the beautiful island of Ilha de Mozambique, a former Portuguese fortress and UNESCO world heritage site in the African nation of Mozambique. The objectives of this pioneering project were to attain intercultural understanding between Nordic and African cultures through collaborative music making and intensive learning. Participants came from various Nordic and African nations, and the event was a great success. Plans are under development for similar intensive courses in the future, in locations such as Mozambique and Syria.
